Sista Talk : A Positive Outlook On Training
Posted on October 23 2018
Training can be stressful enough as it is , sometimes as athletes we get so competitive we forget to have fun and also remind ourselves that having a positive outlook on things actually creates a better meet prep experience going into a meet . Here are a few things that could better your prep
Being in a positive environment increases your level happiness and decreases stress . Having your mind in multiple places and being so distracted due to a negative environment could take a major hit on your prep
Remaining positive and utilizing every failed lift as a learning experience is best practice because you initially learn to not hold onto what could have been and more so what you could do to improve .
For this Article we partnered with athlete : Jessica Brownlee to discuss why its important to try to keep a complete positive attitude during training
"I believe that keeping a positive outlook on everything you do life is so important for personal growth and development. The gym is a second home and I can be unapologetically me. No matter what type of day I'm having, when I leave the gym I feel empowered. I started training in the beginning of 2015 and I have pushed myself harder than ever before. Powerlifting is a lifestyle; diet, training, sleep, and recovery time are all so important. In this sport there are no short cuts. When you want to be the best you have to be willing to sacrifice so much in order to reach that goal. When competing its important to have positive energy surrounding you; be it your coach, friends, and family. I love that powerlifting is a community of people coming together to be better, get stronger, and support one another."
Jason Sathman once said "How long you can continue to be good at something is how much you believe in yourself and how much hard work you do with the training"
So with that being said remaining positive is just as important as the hard physical work you do to make it to the platform . Because your mental health matters . So chin up , work hard and don't forget to smile sis !
